Charles Steward

Charles is a partner in our corporate division. He advises listed companies, private investors and financial institutions on public and private M&A and corporate finance transactions. He has extensive experience advising offerors and listed companies on takeovers, significant transactions, and governance matters.

Sport is one of his key sector focuses, and he has been advising a Premier League football club on various matters in relation to Premier League governance for an extended period of time.

• Hipgnosis Songs Fund on its proposed disposal of 29 music catalogues to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for $440 million
• A confidential client on the potential acquisition of the Irish national lottery
• Hotel Chocolat Group plc on its recommended cash acquisition by Hive Bidco Inc. a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Mars, Incorporated
• Panmure Gordon and its majority shareholder, Atlas Merchant Capital, on its all-share merger with Liberum to create the UK’s largest independent investment bank, Panmure Liberum

In 2023 he was listed in MergerLinks Top 25 up-and-coming lawyers on UK listed company M&A and as a Key Lawyer by Legal 500 for M&A: Upper Mid-Market and Premium Deals. Charles is an author of Buckley on the Companies Acts, contributing to the chapters on Schemes of Arrangements and Mergers.
