James Cranston

James is a commercial litigator and co-leads our sports group. He was seconded to Manchester City FC as Interim Head of Litigation to manage various investigations. James is also advising the International Paralympic Committee in a joint venture dispute.

James previously advised the owner of Blackpool FC on a breach of contract claim and unfair prejudice petition. As well as advising the Pakistan Cricket Board in a multi-million dollar arbitration. James sits as an arbitrator through Sport Resolutions and is a member of the Football Association’s Judicial Panel and has also advised on regulatory issues for clubs issuing NFTs.

He has also worked on several arbitration and investigatory matters. James works particularly with financial investor clients, such as private equity houses and sovereign wealth funds. James also has significant experience working with clients in the sport sector, having spent time on secondment at a governing body and a global sports franchise. James is recognised as a key sports lawyer by The Legal 500.
