Daniel Barton

Managing Director

Daniel Barton, a Managing Director with A&M’s Disputes and Investigations practice in London, brings over 25 years of professional experience in forensic accounting investigations specialising in fraud, bribery and corruption, and regulatory issues. He has worked with clients across a wide range of sectors, including sport, and has undertaken assignments in the U.K., mainland Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.  Mr Barton leads A&M’s strategic partnership with the Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sport.

Mr Barton has conducted a large number of investigations into allegations of fraud, bribery and corruption and other ethics violations arising from both internal and external whistleblowing.  Many of these investigations have been cross-border and required him to conduct interviews and gather information in multiple countries. He has managed all aspects of these assignments including multi-cultural and multi-lingual teams and the appropriate use of forensic technology specialists.  In relation to ethics and compliance, Mr Barton has assisted multinational corporations with designing, developing and enhancing internal compliance programmes and has conducted awareness and buy-in training in multiple countries.

Mr Barton has given evidence in the English High Court and others on a range of fraud, asset recovery and investigation matters and also in criminal and civil cases in Russia. He has been appointed as UK High Court Receiver of companies ultimately holding assets in northern Russia and Ukraine. As part of asset recovery proceedings Mr Barton has taken Directorship appointments in countries including the UK, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Belize, Curacao and the British Virgin Islands.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr Barton was a managing director with the Forensic Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Tokyo.  Mr Barton is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a GRI-Certified Sustainability Professional. Mr Barton is recognized by Who’s Who Legal as their Investigations Forensic Accountant of the Year for 2023/24.
