Jiří Janák

Head of Sport, KŠD LEGAL

Jiří Janák is the head of the sports law department at the KŠD LEGAL law firm, the most renowned law firm in the Czech Republic specialising in sports law, having received a number of awards as the best law firm in that field. Jiří builds on the work of Jan Šťovíček, who established the sports law practice at KŠD and who is now active as a CAS arbitrator and holds positions in leading international federations such as the FIA, FIM, and FIM Europe.

Jiří’s practice is focused primarily on the representation of clients (athletes) before disciplinary bodies of sports federations and the CAS. Jiří also represents sports federations, organisers of sporting events and athletes before civil courts; he prepares contractual documentation for major sports events organised in the territory of the Czech Republic and provides complex legal advice to sports federations, including the Czech Olympic Committee. Jiří is Member of the FIM Europe Legal Panel, Chairman of the Auto Club of the Czech Republic Disciplinary Committee, and First Vice-President of the Czech Association of eSport. Currently, Jiří is a PhD student at the Department of Business Law of the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague, his research is focused on the penetration of competition law in the area of sports.

Jiří is a former racing car driver and competed in the following top series: Porsche Supercup, Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, FIA GT World Championship, FIA World Touring Car Championship, World Series by Renault, etc.
