Kate Porter is an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York where she represents a wide variety of clients in litigation and international arbitration matters, with a particular emphasis on sports-related disputes. Her experience includes representing major sports leagues and organizations in high-profile investigations and disputes, including: the vice president of the Asian Football Confederation and the Qatar Football Association, in obtaining a complete victory before the FIFA Appeal Committee; a Brazilian sports marketing firm and its U.S. affiliate in a breach-of-contract dispute against a South American soccer confederation and its president, 10 national soccer associations and a competitor sports marketing firm; and a men’s professional golf tour in a dispute with its member arising out of the application of the tour’s anti-doping program.

Kate's experience also includes serving as clerk and ad hoc clerk to arbitration panels in sports-related arbitrations before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), under both the ordinary and appeal arbitration procedures. Her work with CAS includes disputes relating to the international transfer of players, the interpretation and application of an international federation’s rules, and anti-doping matters.

Kate is a frequent speaker on dispute resolution in sports law, and has lectured to law students at Columbia University, Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE), Football Business Academy and St. John’s University.
