Chris Anderson

Chris is a very experienced sports lawyer, having held senior roles in Premier League clubs, a professional league, international governing body and the UK Government. He originally practiced as a corporate lawyer with Slaughter & May before transitioning into a full time sports lawyer.

After a successful stint acting on sports regulatory matters, including cases at CAS and numerous tribunals and courts, Chris joined Everton FC where he set up the legal department. For his work at Everton Chris received a Leaders in Sport 'Leaders under 40' award, and was described as a 'new breed of legal team leader' by the Financial Times.

Chris subsequently undertook consultancy roles at other Premier League clubs (including Manchester United), the International Cricket Council and Rugby League's Super League where he was a key part of dealing with commercial and regulatory challenges of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Chris was then appointed to be Head of the Fan Led Review of Football Governance by the UK Government, a detailed multi stakeholder examination of English football. For his work on the review Chris received a DCMS 'Gold' award and the final report was described by one leading commentator as 'the most comprehensive, intelligent and focussed report into sports governance for many years – putting to shame many QC led more rambling and diffuse efforts'.

Chris currently works for City Football Group, where he continues to work on sports structural and legal issues.
