Ben Rutherford

Senior Director, Legal,  International Tennis Integrity Agency

Ben Rutherford is Senior Director, Legal, of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).  The ITIA is the legally-independent body established by the international governing bodies of tennis to promote, encourage and safeguard the integrity of professional tennis worldwide.  Ben joined the ITIA in December 2020 and established the ITIA’s legal department which he heads.  Prior to joining the ITIA, Ben worked for 11 years for World Rugby, the international federation for rugby union, where he was Senior Legal Counsel & Integrity Unit Manager, setting up the integrity programme across the sport. Ben holds degrees in law, international studies and an MBA in Sports Administration.  He is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Australia and as a solicitor in England & Wales. Ben is a member of the IOC’s Legal Expert Group on Competition Manipulation and was the legal member of WADA’s Independent Observer Programme for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.  In addition to his native English, Ben also speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
