BHA statement on safeguarding in British racing

£750 fine - A breach of Rule (J)24 of the Rules of Racing in that he did not complete the BHA’s mandatory online Safeguarding training which all trainers are required to complete in order to comply with the licensing requirements imposed on them.  Reminder letters were sent to all trainers on 24 September 2020, 17 November 2020 and 8 December 2020.  Also, the National Trainers Federation published in their newsletter reminders to all trainers on 30 September 2019, 31 January 2020, 6 November 2020 and 3 December 2020.  On 27 January 2021 a final letter was sent to him advising that the training had to be completed by yourself by 3 February 2021

Result of an Enquiry (K. Lundie) heard by the Disciplinary Panel on Thursday 26 August 2021

1. On 26 August 2021 the independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) convened to consider whether Mr Kevin Lundie, a licensed professional flat jockey, was in breach of Rule (K)49 (a jockey must ensure that no Banned Substance is present in their body) and/or Rule (L)5.2 (where an approved person requires a person to attend an interview the person must attend the interview at the agreed time and place).

British racing’s leading organisations have come together to improve diversity and inclusion across the sport under a unified “Industry Commitment” to ensure racing truly is a sport for everyone and to help the sport grow and thrive in the future.

British racing is proud to be one of few sports where all genders compete on equal terms. The Industry Commitment aims to formalise the sport’s approach to diversity and inclusion and builds on the extensive existing activity already taking place, including community engagement, education activity and charitable work. Much of this is highlighted and celebrated through the Racing Together platform which has showcased over 80 initiatives across the sport enabling the broadest range of people to participate, progress and achieve in horseracing.
