Mariyam Mohammad And Her Lawyer Discuss Her Discrimination Case Against The Asian Football Confederation

The Sports Law & Policy Centre, Bengaluru (SLPC) organized a virtual event on 21st May 2021 to discuss the landmark gender discrimination case between Mariyam Mohamed, a former Maldivian footballer and coach, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) (the decision of which has not yet been published). The discussion was held as a part of SLPC’s 'Sports Law 101' initiative where experts from the field discuss contemporary sports law and policy issues.

Speakers at the event were:

  • Ms. Mariyam Mohamed herself;
  • Ms. Ananya Mitra from Dechert LLP, the firm which represented her in the case.[1]
  • Ms. Jayna Kothari, Founder and Executive Director of the Centre for Law and Policy Research, Bengaluru who moderated the discussion.
