100% renewable energy powers Super Bowl LVIII - How other teams can follow in the Raiders’ footsteps

Before anyone even set foot onto the field, Super Bowl LVIII had already have made history. Not because of the quarterbacks, players, coaches, fans or even Taylor Swift, but thanks to the stadium itself.

The championship game between the 49ers and the Chiefs was the first Super Bowl powered completely by renewable energy. In fact, because of a landmark deal between the team and a local utility which the author helped negotiate (with the assistance of Nevada regulatory counsel, Curt Ledford - Davison Van Cleve), the 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is the only stadium in the country exclusively and directly powered by renewable energy.

This article examines how this historic contract came to be and the many benefits it offers to the Raiders franchise.  It also explains what other sports teams should know about negotiating renewable energy deals of their own.
