2023 was a year of variety for sports law in India. Safeguarding issues in wrestling were, undoubtedly, the headline issue. Governance matters and selection disputes made their customary appearances in the annual list. Interesting developments in competition law’s response to unauthorised leagues, player publicity rights, and the legal and tax treatment of gaming added novelty. The return of cricket to the Olympic Games fold in 2028 promises interesting legal developments in India in the years ahead.
