How My Mentor Helped Me Grow as a Professional - Maria Naneva

If someone had told me what the last year would look like just before the LawInSport Scheme began, I probably would have thought they had a rather optimistic view. The Mentorship opportunity provided me with the confidence and advice needed to work towards my goal of becoming a sports lawyer one day and it motivated me to further develop my commercial awareness, along with my existing knowledge of the field.

Learning how to stay aware of the current issues in the sector, practising providing my answers to them both in written and verbal form, as well as connecting my personal experiences as an athlete when explaining my interest in this sphere, are only a few of the many things the Scheme allowed me to work on and achieve. In this article, I hope to provide an overview of my first steps in the field of sports law, how the Scheme helped me and what my goals for the future are. I sincerely hope that there will be something useful for aspiring sports lawyers to take away from my own mentee experience.
