Welcome to the sports integrity section of the LawInSport Annual Review 2023/24. As in previous years, the aim of this chapter is to identify and review some of the notable cases and events in 2023 and early 2024 and to draw any common threads from it.

Taking a slightly topsy turvy turn, let us start with the thread. The silver filament that runs through the world of sport in 2023 is that corruption is not going away. The 3rd Annual Integrity Report from Sport Radar1 showed 1,320 suspicious matches across 11 sports in 105 countries in 2023 a similar number to that in 2022. As ever, while the world turns, players, coaches, and corrupters turn their minds to the process of obtaining lucre or glory. What then of the notable cases: it is as ever a rather depressing hall of infamy.
