Here are the top sports law issues to watch out for in 2021 in Africa, Asia and Australia from the LawInSport Editorial Board.

  • Steve Bainbridge - KSA Grand Prix, Esports content to increase global market share and the reset and realignment of sports events.
  • Kelvin Omuojine - The approval and implementation of the National Sports Industry Policy and the Nigeria Professional Football League.
  • Nan Sato - The adoption of the Sporting Organization Governance Codes
  • Mickey Ingles - The Philippine Games and Amusement Board
  • Aahna Mehrota - The BCCI’s application before the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court's decision in Gurdeep Singh Sachar v. Union of India v Ors.
  • Prof Jack Anderson - Rugby litigation in Australia and broadcasting litigation involving Cricket Australia.
  • Nikki Dryden - The IOC and Rule 50
  • Shaun Star - The return to “COVID-safe” sport, the appeal of Shayna Jack’s suspension and the use of data in sport.

We hope this proves useful not only in identifying specific cases and issues, but also in detecting broader themes and when read in conjunction with the contributions from other jurisdictions.

We would like to thank each member of our Editorial Board for taking the time out of their busy schedules to share their views with us, and also more broadly for their significant input into LawInSport over the course of the year. Thank you.
