To mark National Children’s Week, Sport Integrity Australia has today launched its inaugural Child Safeguarding in Sport Induction e-Learning course.

The e-Learning course complements the National Integrity Framework Child Safeguarding Policy and has been developed for any person and any organisation who is bound by the policy, such as National Sporting Organisations (NSOs), State Sporting Organisations (SSOs), clubs/affiliated bodies, boards, committees, participants, employees, coaches, contractors, officials, and support personnel.

FIFA kick-off Global Integrity Programme for CAF Member Associations

As part of improving education and integrity capacity building both in Africa and globally, FIFA kicked-off on Thursday 30 November the Global Integrity Program for CAF Member Associates.

CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba gave opening remarks on Thursday morning during the opening session where he outlined the importance of the program for Member Associations.

FIFA is deeply concerned by the recent reports in the US made by several players.  Due to the severity and seriousness of the allegations being made by players, we can confirm that FIFA’s judicial bodies are actively looking into the matter and have opened a preliminary investigation.   As part of this, FIFA will be reaching out to the respective parties, including US Soccer and NWSL, for further information about the various safeguarding concerns and allegations of abuse that have been raised.

Trainer Johnny Farrelly excluded from British racing

Following a five-day hearing in front of the National Safeguarding Panel (NSP), trainer Johnny Farrelly has today been found in breach of six offences under Regulation 4 and one under Regulation 6 of the BHA Safeguarding Regulations following a referral by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) to the National Safeguarding Panel.

Afghan women cyclists brought to safety in Europe cpa cycling

We are delighted to share the following Road to Equality press release from the Association of the Italian Professional Cyclists ACCPI.

A small group of Afghan women cyclists has managed to reach Italy on board a C-130 of the Italian Air Force that landed at Fiumicino (Rome) on 27th August. Six athletes are currently observing the required quarantine, alongside a male athlete and several family members. Joy, but also concern about those who are haven’t yet been able to leave Afghanistan.

Concussion protocols being used at 2021 SCL

MIAMI, Florida – Concacaf is using the IFAB additional permanent “concussion substitutes” in the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf League with the implementation of Protocol B enforced throughout the competition.

Independent Concussion Consultants to be introduced to support Graduated Return to Play process in elite rugby

World Rugby has announced details of a major programme that will further objective care of elite players returning to play following a confirmed concussion.

Starting this month, a panel of Independent Concussion Consultants (ICC) will be made available to the game to provide independent expert opinion on whether a player should return to play following the successful completion of the six-stage Graduated Return to Play process for elite competitions. The panel of ICC experts will be funded by World Rugby.

£750 fine - A breach of Rule (J)24 of the Rules of Racing in that he did not complete the BHA’s mandatory online Safeguarding training which all trainers are required to complete in order to comply with the licensing requirements imposed on them.  Reminder letters were sent to all trainers on 24 September 2020, 17 November 2020 and 8 December 2020.  Also, the National Trainers Federation published in their newsletter reminders to all trainers on 30 September 2019, 31 January 2020, 6 November 2020 and 3 December 2020.  On 27 January 2021 a final letter was sent to him advising that the training had to be completed by yourself by 3 February 2021

Barrister to lead independent investigation into Swimming Australia culture

A leading barrister will lead an independent investigation into claims of an abusive culture within Australian swimming.

Chris Ronalds assisted in developing the country’s sexual discrimination laws and will now lead the independent investigation into swimmers claims that there is a culture of abuse within Swimming Australia. Ronalds will lead the investigation with an all-female panel and has requested for swimmers to come forward with any complaints they wish to make.

Players, unions and competitions support new guidelines for rugby contact training load

  • Best-practice contact training load guidelines aim to reduce injury risk while maintaining or improving performance
  • New guidelines set out advised weekly limits for full contact training (15 minutes), controlled contact (40 minutes) and live set piece (30 minutes) training
  • Guidelines follow global consultation, including feedback from almost 600 players across elite men’s and women’s competitions, and input from leading strength and conditioning, medical and performance experts
  • They will be underpinned by a review and research programme to drive continuous learning and improvement, and to encourage consistent application across the professional game
  • Guidelines and follow-up research welcomed by players, national unions, global competitions
  • Elite teams, including Leinster, Clermont Auvergne and Benetton Treviso, have signed up to a trial measuring their training and match contact using instrumented mouthguards to monitor effectiveness and inform future advancements

FIBA statement regarding independent Integrity Officer report on allegations of systemic sexual harassment within the Mali Basketball Federation

Following several allegations of systemic sexual harassment within the Mali Basketball  Federation (FMBB) received on June 10, the report of the independent Integrity Officer has been delivered to FIBA.

In addition to the suspension on June 14 of coach Amadou Bamba, coach Oumar Sissoko, official Hario Maiga and on July 23 of FMBB President Harouna Maiga, after carefully reviewing the document and following the recommendation of the Integrity Officer, FIBA will be issuing additional suspensions against three other members of the FMBB, pending the opening of disciplinary proceedings: coach Fanta Diallou, Secretary General Seydou Maiga and Vice President Amadou Traore. Further decisions will be taken in due course by the competent FIBA bodies.

Álvaro Dionisio on football trafficking in Portugal: 'I was too trusting and they tricked me'

Salazar permanently banned from track and field due to misconduct

Alberto Salazar, once the head coach of the Nike Oregon Project, was permanently barred from participating in track and field on Monday by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, an independent non-profit organisation that provides sports with guidelines on how to provide safe environments for athletes and training for coaches and administrators, which cited Salazar for sexual and emotional misconduct.

ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 to move to UAE and Oman

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be staged in the UAE and Oman due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in India. The BCCI will remain the hosts of the event, which will now be held in Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, from 17 October to 14 November 2021.
