The Premier Hockey Federation announced today it has reached an agreement that makes ESPN+ the exclusive home of the PHF in the United States during the upcoming 2021-22 season. 60 PHF regular-season games, plus special events, Isobel Cup Playoffs and Championship, will be available to stream live, exclusively on ESPN+ for fans in the U.S.

Bolton Wanderers cutting ties with betting companies

Bolton Wanderers Chief Executive Neil Hart has said that the club cutting ties with betting companies is the ‘right thing’ to do.

Bolton, who currently sit ninth in League One, have said it will remove all betting kiosks from with the University of Bolton Stadium and no longer accept gambling money. Hart said “Bolton want to win on the pitch, but alongside that is doing the right thing. We just felt, with the saturation of betting advertising around football, we didn't need to be part of that. We are not saying to supporters don't bet, but we aren't going to provide you with that opportunity within the stadium and it's something we believed in. The early indication is it’s been received very positively and our supporters are very much aligned with us.”

LA28 invests $9.6mn in kids sports

The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games announced it will invest USD9.6 million (EUR8.06 million) to fund youth sports across Los Angeles, helping bring kids back to sport and fitness as the community moves forward from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The USD9.6 million investment is part of LA28’s USD160 million (EUR134.4 million) commitment to make sports more accessible to kids across Los Angeles ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028, the single largest commitment for youth sport development ever in California.

The International Cricket Council announces strategic partnership with fintech infrastructure Leader: NIUM

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced today that it has entered a multi-year strategic partnership with Nium, a leading global financial technology (FinTech) infrastructure company. Nium provides banks and businesses with access to a suite of fintech infrastructure services through one API. This partnership includes involvement and integration in three global ICC events through to the end of 2023 such as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman, the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2023 and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 to be hosted in India.

Qatar to join F1 calendar in 2021, as country signs additional 10-year deal from 2023

Qatar’s Losail International Circuit will hold its first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix on November 19-21, with the country set to host the 20th event of the 2021 season, as well as signing an additional 10-year deal to host F1 from 2023.

The Qatari circuit is most famous for its association with the world of two-wheeled racing, with Losail having hosted the MotoGP series since 2004. Ooredoo, the international communications company, will be the title sponsor for the event.
