A Summary of The FA's Response to Government White Paper on Club Football Governance

The Government is conducting a focused consultation on their White Paper - A Sustainable Future - Reforming Club Football Governance.

We have worked closely with Government on proposals for an independent regulator since the Fan Led Review.

We have provided the Department for Culture, Media and Sport a full response, a brief summary of which is attached.

One of our key concerns is the financial support for the whole football pyramid.

This could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to support and secure the future of 18,000 clubs across the National League System and grassroots pyramid.

The need for redistribution to the grassroots was recognised in the Fan Led Review, but not the White Paper, so we are recommending that the Regulator ensures that any redistribution of income from the professional game covers the whole football pyramid, including the grassroots game.
