AESF Signs MoU with VIRESA For Esports Development

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) and the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA) in Hanoi on April 17th, 2023.

  

The collaboration between the two organizations is set to promote and develop sustainable development of Esports in Asia and in Vietnam in particular.

Specifically, it will be focused on a few key areas in Vietnam including the hosting of AESF competitions and events, Esports education, Esports industry support, media partnership and digital sports & Olympic virtual sports development.

Along with the points listed above, an emphasis has been offered to collaborations to further develop new and ongoing education programs for athletes and stakeholders and attention to ‘Esports for all’ program. Especially, AESF and VIRESA reached a consensus on coordinating the formation and promotion of Esports activities for all target groups, including people with disabilities and women.

In addition, both organizations established a consensus to support the development of digital sports and virtual sports which requires a holistic and comprehensive engagement of technology, innovation and education elements.

Commenting on the partnership, AESF Director General, Mr. Sebastian Lau, said “The AESF is thrilled to be working alongside our member in Vietnam, sharing the same goal of growing the Esports scene. The industry is only as strong as its grassroots development and from what the AESF has witnessed so far, Esports in Vietnam has built its momentum and status in the society through the SEA Games 2021. With the staunch support from Sports Administration, NOC, and VIRESA, the AESF is confident in our goal to drive the further development of a thriving Esports ecosystem here.

Mr. Cuong Xuan Nguyen, President of VIRESA, added that this MOU will be the cornerstone for the both organizations to support each other to accomplish the goals, accelerate the progress of the ongoing cooperation between AESF and VIRESA in support of their respective missions as well as premise to promote new cooperation.

We aim to create a community of solidarity and collaborate to shape an ideal Esports ecosystem, manuals and guidelines that protects the rights and interests of the different stakeholders in Esports, society, Esports industry as a whole and mankind in general as well as jointly correspond to contemporary issues in Esports industries that needs attention”, he emphasized.

Mr. Cuong Xuan Nguyen also evaluated this as one of the strategic steps for VIRESA to fulfill its set goal, which is to make Vietnam an ideal destination to host major international Esports events and promote professional, methodical and sustainable investment in the Esports industry in the Southeast Asian region.

Both parties also discussed the organization of the ASEAN+ University Championship in Vietnam next year.
