The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued its decision in the arbitration procedure between the Tanzanian football club Young Africans Sports Club and the Ghanaian football player Bernard Morrison in relation to the decision issued on 12 August 2020 by the Legal and Players’ Status Committee of the Tanzania Football Federation (the Challenged Decision).

In such decision, Bernard Morrison’s term with Young Africans Sports Club was deemed to have concluded at the end of his first contract on 14 July 2020. A second, disputed, contract was deemed to have not been entered into by Bernard Morrison and he was ordered to repay the amount of USD 30,000 paid to him by Young Africans Sports Club in relation to the disputed second contract.

Young Africans Sports Club challenged such Decision at the CAS. The Club requested that the validity of the second contract be affirmed and that Bernard Morrison be ordered to pay an indemnity of USD 200’000 to the Club for breach of contract.

The CAS Panel heard the parties by video-conference on 29 July 2021. After deliberations, it dismissed the appeal and confirmed the Challenged Decision in its entirety.
