CAS has registered 42 appeals filed by Russian athletes against the IOC Disciplinary Commission

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered 42 appeals filed by Russian athletes against decisions taken by the Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC DC). The IOC DC found the athletes to have committed anti-doping rule violations during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, disqualified them from the events in which they participated at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games and forfeited all medals won by them. The athletes were also declared ineligible to participate in any capacity in all subsequent editions of the Olympic Games.

The athletes concerned are:

5 Aleksei Pushkarev (bobsleigh) 26 Alexey Voevoda (ice hockey)
6 Ilvir Khuzin (bobsleigh) 27 Ekaterina Lebedeva (ice hockey)
7 Olga Stulneva (bobsleigh) 28 Galina Skiba (ice hockey)
8 Aleksander Tretiakov (skeleton) 29 Anna Shibanova (ice hockey)
9 Sergei Chudinov (skeleton) 30 Ekaterina Smolentseva (ice hockey)
10 Elena Nikitina (skeleton) 31 Ekaterina Pashkevich (ice hockey)

 A CAS arbitration procedure has been opened for each athlete. The procedures are being conducted jointly and a combined hearing is likely to take place in the week of 22 January 2018. At the moment, it is expected that the CAS will issue a final decision for each case on or before 31 January 2018.
