FA & Mexican Federation working together to improve operations in both countries
We have signed an agreement with the Mexican Football Federation [FMF], which will see the two organisations collaborate with a view to improving the potential and quality of football operations across England and Mexico.
The Memorandum of Understanding [MoU], which is effective until July 2023, was developed with the support of the British Embassy in Mexico and is the result of a series of workshops held between The FA and FMF throughout 2020, focused on identifying areas of opportunity for improvement, including stadium operations, refereeing, regulation, security and more.
The agreement will see The FA and FMF organise training workshops and seminars to promote women’s and grassroots football and support the development of match officials, as well as holding training sessions to share best practice and identify better working structures.
FA CEO Mark Bullingham said: "We are very pleased to formally sign this agreement with our counterparts in Mexico. It’s clear there is a lot we can share and learn from each other to improve the game at all levels in our countries. We are always looking at the best ways to increase the quality and potential of English football, both on and off the pitch, and collaborations such as this can only bring benefits to both parties."
FMF General Secretary Iñigo Riestra said: "The signing of this MoU, with the British Ambassador as an honour witness, is a big opportunity to exchange best practices, to promote both women and men’s football, to train our referees and VAR officials, to increase the grassroots base, and to learn from each other."
