U SPORTS Football Athlete Suspended

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Lane Raposo, a U SPORTS football athlete affiliated with York University, received a four-year sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected during out-of-competition doping control on September 28, 2017, revealed the presence of methenolone, boldenone (anabolic agents) and tamoxifen (hormone modulator).

In response to the CCES’s notification of the adverse analytical finding, Mr. Raposo admitted the anti-doping rule violation in a timely fashion (in accordance with Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP) Rule 10.11.2), and a hearing was held to determine the sanction length. Arbitrator Carol Roberts imposed a sanction of four years ineligibility from sport, terminating October 20, 2021. The athlete, who resides in Calgary, AB, is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the CADP, including training with teammates.

Le Centre canadien pour l’éthique dans le sport (CCES) vient d’annoncer que Lane Raposo, un athlète de football de U SPORTS de York University, s’est vu imposer une suspension de quatre ans pour une violation des règles antidopage. Cette violation a été découverte par l’analyse d’un échantillon d’urine recueilli durant un contrôle de dopage hors compétition réalisé le 28 septembre 2017, qui a révélé la présence de méthénolone, boldénone (des agents anabolisants) et tamoxifène (un modulateur hormonal).

En réponse à l’avis du CCES concernant ce résultat d’analyse anormal, M. Raposo a promptement avoué la violation (conformément à la règle 10.11.2 du Programme canadien antidopage (PCA)), et une audience s’est déroulée pour déterminer la période de suspension appropriée. L’arbitre Carol Roberts lui a imposé une suspension de quatre ans qui prendra fin le 20 octobre 2021. Il est interdit à cet athlète, qui réside à Calgary en Alberta, de participer, peu importe à quel titre, à tout sport organisé signataire du PCA, y compris de s’entraîner avec ses coéquipiers.
