Each Member Federation in good standing can nominate one candidate in each of the four categories by 10 September. The elections are set to take place electronically from 1 to 9 November.

The WBSC opened on 12 August the nomination procedure for eight Athlete Representatives in four different categories.

  • Men's Baseball Athlete Representative
  • Women's Baseball Athlete Representative
  • Men's Softball Athlete Representative
  • Women's Softball Athlete Representative

Every Member Federation in good standing can nominate one athlete for each category. The deadline is 12:00 p.m. (Central European Summer Time - CEST) on 10 September. All nominations shall be in writing and must state the position or positions for which the person is being nominated.

Athletes Representatives are, per Article 15.7 of the WBSC Statutes, the legal representatives of the athletes in the WBSC. Their duties and responsibilities are to be the athletes' voice in all matters in the WBSC and the Executive Board and carry out such duties and responsibilities that the WBSC Statutes, Code of the Divisions, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations, the Division Boards and the WBSC Executive Board shall entrust upon them.

The Athletes Representatives are elected for a four year term by the eligible players.

The persons nominated for election must be active athletes, as defined by the Commission By-Laws, at least 18 years of age. They must have participated in the Premier12, a WBSC World Cup, an Olympic Qualifier or an Olympic Games in the six years prior to the nomination.

The voting will take place electronically from 1 to 9 November 2022.

Four Athletes Representatives will serve on the WBSC Executive Board, while four will serve on the WBSC Division Boards. There will be two "open" positions for the Athletes Representatives in the Presidential Council. They will be represented by the respective Athletes Commission Members, depending on the topic of discussion and availability.

The WBSC Executive Board welcomed a proposal by the Athletes Commission and amended the Election Procedure, which was updated on 9 August. The changes aim at increasing the athletes' representation structure across the WBSC ecosystem and their participation in the decision-making process.

This goal is in line with the recently launched WBSC Strategic Plan 2022-28 and the Olympic Agenda 2020+5, in particular with Recommendation 3 Reinforce Athletes' rights and responsibilities.
