Weightlifting athlete, Mathieu Marineau, suspended for the presence of SARM S-22

October 21, 2014 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Mathieu Marineau, a weightlifting athlete, received a two-year sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected during out-of-competition doping control on June 15, 2014, revealed the presence of SARM S-22, a prohibited anabolic agent.

In response to the CCES’ notification of the adverse analytical finding, Mr. Marineau exercised his right to a hearing. Arbitrator Robert Décary imposed a sanction of two years ineligibility from sport, terminating July 8, 2016. The athlete, who resides in Lachute, Quebec, is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP), including training with teammates.
