AFC enters deal to develop new competition management system

Press Release

25 November 2016

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has entered into an agreement with Genius Sports, a global leader in sports data technology, distribution and commercialisation services, to develop a Competition Management System that can be rolled out to the AFC's 47 Member Associations (MA) by early 2017.

The Competition Management System (CMS), which was approved by the AFC Development Committee in July this year, will assist MAs to manage both professional and amateur leagues and tournaments in their respective countries.

When fully operational, the CMS will enable MAs to manage competitions, collect and distribute data to fans, sponsors and media, which are key components to run competitions effectively and streamline the competition management workflow.

Comprising a comprehensive set of components, the CMS covers all aspects of competitions including fixture generation, referee and tribunal mangement, match cards, results recording, league standings, statistics and accreditation.

The new CMS also complements the work led by FIFA through the FIFA Connect Programme, which enables MAs to register stakeholders in a systematic way.
